Police Chief William J. Brasche.  Employed at the Warren County Jail from 1984 to 1987.  Warren County Deputy Sheriff as of April 1987.  I was hired at the Silvis Police Department in April 1988.  I have worked as a patrolman, juvenile officer, a detective, training officer, crime scene processor and photographer, policy writer, internal investigator, contract negotiator, and supervisor.  I was named interim police chief in May of 2008 and permanent chief in June of 2008.

The Silvis Police Department is comprised of 15 sworn officers, six Telecommunicators and a Community Service Officer. The department is one of six 911 call centers in Rock Island County and the dispatch center also provides services for Barstow Fire, Hampton Fire and Hampton Police Department.

The Silvis Police Department is committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Silvis. Silvis officers support and participate in a multi jurisdictional drug enforcement and investigative groups, Quad City Crime Stoppers, Quad City investigators group, Quad City Citizen's Police Academy and Quad City and area Chiefs of Police Association. The department is committed to maintaining a visible presence and continued professional deterrence to crime in collaboration with the citizens we serve. The Community Service Officer handles complaints of abandoned vehicles, unkept properties and loose, neglected or abandoned domestic animals. Residents are reminded to have domestic animals leashed when outside the home, vaccinated and with proper animal tags. We recommend having your pet microchipped to aid us in safely returning your pet home if it becomes lost.
